Why this blog...

I have started this Blog because I am a lazy learner.  I hope that this will give me some motivation to study and practise Korean and enable me to gauge my snail like progress...
You can find out more about me on my other blog....  Seoul Ambition
I learnt to read Korean during a 3 month stay in Korea 2001, but since then I did not formally study korean just picked up the odd words from my wife and Korean friends and more recently my kids.
So, you may ask am I learning Korean from my wife... no! I tried, once... but as I am a lazy learner and things dont stick in my mind I was beyond my wifes level of patience.
I am currently learning Korean at Sogang level 1B once a week through my church in Miguem, Bundang, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. So basically on my own... but I have the wonderful resource of the world around me, just south of the bustling city of Seoul. I just need to take advantage of it.
I am not a complete beginner. I can read and speak basic sentences but lack confidence. My listening is slightly better depending on the situation.

UPDATE: Because of the reasons stated above I pretty much stopped studying Korean and stopped attending my weekly lessons, although I still picked up a few new expressions and went through phases of using gamified learning tools such as quizlet and memrise. Then I found myself being busy and getting a new Job with a Korean company, although my job revolves around my ability to speak English, with colleagues (most of) who speak English I have a new motivation to learn.  New motivation means new need for accountability and this is, as it has always been, the purpose of this blog.  But the thing that reminded me about the purpose of this blog which I stopped updating was the discovery of this wonderful blog by a dedicated language learner>>> http://koreanstudentblog.wordpress.com/
The statement below still stands, even the time scale has decreased
I hope to be speaking Korean well by 2014.
Thanks for visiting
